About

I started in tech support — the kind where someone hands you a machine that doesn't work and expects it to work by the afternoon. That turns out to be good training for software: you learn to reproduce a problem before theorising about it, and you learn that the user's description of the fault is evidence, not diagnosis.

Since 2021 I've been building mobile and web products, mostly in Flutter and React. The work I'm proudest of isn't the prettiest: it's a buy-now-pay-later app whose crash rate I helped cut by more than 40% while it was live for hundreds of thousands of people, and a product I moved off low-code without losing a single feature.

Through my own company, Codelyn, I spent a year contracting on the kind of work that doesn't fit in a browser tab — pairing NFC card readers to a wallet that settles offline, shutting industrial fire pumps down from a phone through an ESP module, routing windscreen technicians between jobs in the UK. Software that has to agree with a physical object is a different discipline, and I like it.

Right now I'm at Tripleblue working on AI products — their knowledge agent and AI Notes, plus the note-taking mobile app and the German DMS counterpart. The interesting problem there isn't the model. It's everything around it: what the product does when the answer is wrong, and how a user can tell.

I gravitate toward systems where correctness has consequences — payments, hardware, background processing, anything where "mostly working" is a synonym for broken. I finished a BSc in Computer Science at Akademia in 2025 and I'm now reading for a BSc Honours at the University of Pretoria, moving toward digital forensics and cyber security. Based in Pretoria, South Africa.

Experience

  1. July 2025Present

    Full-Stack Developer at Tripleblue

Moved onto Tripleblue's AI products — the knowledge agent and AI Notes — alongside the German DMS counterpart and the AI note-taking mobile app.

    • Improving the AI Knowledge Agent
    • Feature work on AI Notes
    • Assisted in building the DMS Germany counterpart
    • Maintaining the AI note-taking mobile app
  2. April 2025January 2026

Founder & Freelance Developer at Codelyn (Pty) Ltd

My own company, contracting to four clients across mobile, hardware integration and payments — including NFC card readers, ESP-based industrial control and a UK field-service app.

    • Firebrain (Softechware) — mobile app, web app and backend, shutting down fire pumps from the phone via an ESP module, with WhatsApp alerts to on-call technicians
    • Batsamayi — paired physical NFC card readers to a Flutter app for a cashless wallet that works without connectivity
    • Fix Glass (UK) — added Maps and turn-by-turn navigation to the Flutter app their windscreen technicians use in the field
    • Bowlsmaster — feature work and improvements on their Flutter app
  3. May 2024July 2025

    Frontend Developer at Tripleblue

Rebuilt Tripleblue's web and mobile products off FlutterFlow onto a custom Next.js and Flutter stack, while keeping the original platform live and shipping.

    • Rewrote the web app in React/Next.js with a Supabase backend, replacing the low-code original
    • Rewrote the mobile app in Flutter at full feature parity — agenda sync, background audio, offline storage
    • Fixed platform-specific defects in the legacy app, including native background audio recording and iOS file persistence
    • Introduced reusable component structures and improved the Supabase data model
  4. April 2024July 2024

    Flutter Developer at Payflex

Contributed to the rewrite and stabilisation of the customer-facing Payflex app, a buy-now-pay-later product with over 400,000 downloads.

    • Helped migrate the codebase to Clean Architecture for maintainability and scale
    • Built the Store Directory module with interactive Google Maps markers
    • Improved app stability by over 40%, measured in Firebase Crashlytics
    • Worked across QA, .NET backend and product to ship on both Android and iOS
  5. August 2021Present

    Frontend Developer at Softechware

Building cross-platform mobile applications in Flutter and Dart, alongside client web work.

    • Delivered client mobile apps with Flutter, FlutterFlow and Firebase
    • Rebuilt the Softechware corporate site in React from Figma designs
    • Delivered five WordPress client sites end to end, including hosting and forms
  6. January 2021January 2023

AIM Lab Technician at University of Pretoria

Kept the computer labs running and supported students and staff on hardware, software and access issues.

    • Maintained lab hardware and imaging across a high-traffic teaching environment
    • Provided in-person and remote technical support under time pressure
  7. July 2020July 2021

Tech Support (in-person & remote) at Softechware

Hardware troubleshooting, network operations and remote assistance for business clients.

    • Diagnosed and resolved hardware and network faults on site
    • Ran remote support sessions via AnyDesk and TeamViewer

Freelance clients

Through Codelyn, 2025–2026. Short write-ups — the full case studies in Work go deeper.

  • Firebrain (Softechware)

Mobile app, web app and backend for an industrial fire-pump system. Technicians shut pumps down from the app via an ESP module on the hardware, and WhatsApp alerts route to whoever is on call.

    • Flutter
    • ESP modules
    • IoT integration
    • WhatsApp API
    • Firebase
    • Node.js
  • Batsamayi

A cashless payments app built on physical NFC cards. I paired the card hardware to the Flutter app and set up wallets that hold and settle value on the device, so a transaction does not need connectivity to complete.

    • Flutter
    • NFC
    • Payments
    • Dart
  • Fix Glass (UK)

Field-service app for windscreen technicians. I improved the existing Flutter app and added Maps with turn-by-turn navigation, so technicians route between jobs from inside the app rather than switching to another one.

    • Flutter
    • Maps & navigation
    • iOS
    • Android
  • Bowlsmaster (Fairtree)

Feature work and improvements on their Flutter application.

    • Flutter
    • Dart
